My Farwell to 2014

I'm not usually one to sit and dwell on the past, nor over analyze it and I am definitely not a believer of the old saying “history repeats itself”.

I am always moving forward, propelling myself towards the future, rarely, if ever, looking in the rear view.

I 've always been a firm believer that we are each creators of our own destiny, masters of our fate and so on.

I am in complete control of my year, the experiences I have, which lessons I learn, etc.

However, someone's post on this topic triggered the thought in my mind and I began to reflect on the past year and what it has meant to me.

2014 was a year of transition and a very positive albeit, dramatic segue into the further unfolding of my future.

I ended going further and in a different direction than I'd planned to, breaking my own ideas/thresholds/barriers of success that I'd taught myself and reinforced over time or adapted to believe without awareness.

I re-learned that True Success is doing nothing in particular aside from what you know you are meant to do, what you love, your passion. I'd always know this was great in theory, but seeing it actualize and come to fruition on so many different levels was quite rewarding.

I tried new things, things that I knew I was capable of but for some reason, had not yet attempted. I branched out more, I made the effort to live each day with more passion and intensity than the one before. Stubbornly refused to let fear or uncertainty rule any chapter (or page for that matter) of my life when either attempted to do so.

uncertainty rule any chapter (or page for that matter) of my life when either attempted to do so.

It was also a year of great loss for me, so I had to learn to lose gracefully. I must admit, especially in the beginning, some lessons were more difficult to learn than others. Being on the other side of it, I am so grateful for the knowledge I acquired.

It fully reinforced the appreciation and gratitude that I hold for everyone in my life.

It reminded to always be present, living fully in each moment, cultivating rich experiences and memories with the people that are there with me.

Whether they are there for a reason, a season or a lifetime, I know now to be grateful for any moments at all, how ever brief or bittersweet; to accept each relationship as it comes as well as each person as they come, gracefully.

Finally, I have learned even further, as I've been shown throughout my life, just how incredibly powerful our thoughts and feelings really are. You can absolutely create anything you’d like, go anywhere you dream,do anything you desire and so on.

I can also say that without a doubt that you are able to defy any odds against you, overcome any circumstance, beat any statistic or defy any stereotype supposedly working against you. You are in total control-of your self belief, self worth, your thoughts, expectations and therefore, your results.

It is all mindset and it is up to each and every one of us to master it.

This year, I'd like to ask you a personal favor, go after one of your goals. Do something (even if its a small something) that you have been too afraid to do or that you thought was a waste of time. I challenge you to begin living the life you dream of, take the first step, no matter how small, Just do it. What's the worst that could happen? Go for it!
